Two versions on the same day! FFHolic Toolbar v1.2 – v1.3
Today, I spent some time on improving the FFHolic Toolbar which I started developing last week as a hobby project.
At the initial iterations (v1 and 1.1), the outcome was a simple toolbar that had some links (most liked entries, latest buzz, etc.) and a search box on it. All it did was just eliminating typing FFHolic.com in the address bar.
After one week, I’ve come up with some ideas. Also, someone on friendfeed commented that to have a FF bookmarklet on the toolbar would be nice. That was in my to-do list, too.
I started with adding two features, that FF bookmarklet and a FF usage timer. By activating the timer, you can track how much time you spend on FriendFeed. It runs silencely on the background and while you navigate FF, it starts counting. You can always stop it. That two features were incorporated into v1.2.
After releasing v1.2, I made some brainstorming with Arda Kutsal by email and decided to work on a really cool feature which will make the toolbar a must-have for FriendFeedHolics. My aim was to display a user’s FFHolic stats on his/her FriendFeed page next to his/her name. That was a little bit tough task because FFHolic did not have an API to fetch a user’s stats. So, I wrote a little parser to accomplish that and it worked out. I incorporated this into the toolbar, tested the feature and released FFHolic v1.3 on Mozilla add-ons web site. You can download the latest version from here.
For those that wonders how it looks like, I took a screenshot of my page:
So, two versions on the same day… I think I love FFHolic because I can’t find another explanation
